Glossle (/glossle / [Translation Unavailable]) is a temperate Town located in the Weian Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Glossle is derived from the Sylvin language, as Glossle was founded by Mraez Barkworth, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Glossle has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 31°C (87°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 21°C (69°F). Glossle receives an average of 282 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Glossle covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3160 m (10367 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Glossle was founded durring the early 17th century in late spring of the year 1619, by Mraez Barkworth. The establishment of Glossle was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Glossle 's construction back out of the project. Mraez Barkworth pushed on reguardles, and Glossle was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Glossle was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Glossle is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Glossle is buildings are arranged within a network of restrictive paverstone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a well-crafted cobblestone fence tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. Glossle 's frontieer-style defences has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

The town shows nothing out of the ordinary, at first glance. Then you start to notice all the small things. Each window has seven iron nails pounded into the sill. Every door has a sprig of holly overhead. Every well is branded with purity seals and runes to ward the contents. Everyone is carrying a small charm for safety or fortune, be it a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, or other little totems.

Civic Infrastructure

Glossle possesses a city-wide Aethary Link which provides Aethary access anywhere within its metropolitan. This allows citizens who can afford the relevant devices access in their places of work, and rarely homes.

Glossle has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Glossle . They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Glossle 's parks.

Glossle has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Glossle .

Glossle has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Glossle has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Glossle possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Glossle 's grid is powered by mana accumulators.

Glossle 's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Glossle has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Glossle 's natural decorations nor waterways.

Glossle has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Glossle has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Glossle has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Glossle 's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by grandeur of scale, simplicity of geometric forms, dramatic use of columns, and a preference for blank walls. This design ethos extended to re-imagining earlier styles of structure to create them anew, with a similar overall look and feel to one another..

In Glossle sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Azer near Glossle are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Glossle 's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves bloodletting to channel Abjuration energies of tier 1 via proclamations.

Many of Glossle ’s structures date back to the ancient past and a long-vanished culture. They have unique architectural traits, perhaps being made of some strange substance or with uncanny qualities. The locals find them too useful or too durable to destroy, but the buildings often have unpleasant little surprises in their under-explored corners, and there may be greater structures still buried by long ages beneath Glossle ’s streets.

Due to a magical anomaly, Glossle is directly accessible from a nearby river, despite the lack of a physical connection between the town's pond and the river.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century Glossle experienced an impossibly long, cold, and stormy winter unlike anything seen before. The worst of the disaster struck The storm coated everything in a thick layer of ice and freezing countless animals, plants, and people to death. Glossle lost 160 people, and 351 livestock in the disaster.. The disaster is remembered as the Ill Tides Screams, after the sounds of the winds.
